Major Areas[]
First Block[]
A large area with lots of houses and buildings. Entering the area will spawn 3 Soldiers. The first electrical box in the house to the right of the starting room will spawn 4 Soldiers and a Cerberus. The second box at the top of the room to the left of the entrance will spawn 3 Soldiers and a Malicious Face. The third and final box in a pit to the left of the entrance will spawn 2 Soldiers nearby and 2 rapidly approaching Streetcleaners.
Generator Staircase[]
A tall, dark room with a spiral staircase wrapped around a large glass pillar emitting a yellow glow, with a giant deadly fan spinning far below. A Malicious Face spawns at the base of the stairs, with 4 Drones and 4 Streetcleaners spawning once you've reached the middle of the staircase.
Electric Hallway[]
A bracket-shaped connector between the staircase and the second block, with an open-air section in the middle that reveals a parallel platform. Upon entering, 2 Soldiers spawn to greet you. Entering the open air spawns 3 Soldiers on the parallel platform, as well as notifying the player that the Knuckleblaster cannot parry and they must swap to the Feedbacker to do so. Proceeding to the latter half of the hallway spawns 4 Filth and 2 Streetcleaners.
Electric Railcannon Room[]
The door after the checkpoint reveals a dark pillared room that highlights the Electric Railcannon, floating in a suspended light cylinder. Picking up the lethal weapon opens a previously closed gate and spawns 5 Strays, along with another tooltip midway through the gate telling the player that the Railcannon recharges without player input.
Second Block[]
A large area with loads of buildings after you get the Electric Railcannon. Upon first entering the area, two Strays, two Soldiers and a single Schism will spawn. The first electrical box is on the top of a building to the right of the entrance and spawns 5 Drones. The second box is to your right of the exit door and will spawn a Cerberus and a Malicious Face. The third is right above the hallway with the second box. Nearby platforms will spawn 3 Soldiers and a Malicious Face; however, if they have not been spawned yet, the box will spawn them.
The second block also has a house with a book the player can read, on a desk on the topmost floor. In the same building, entering the first floor with the portrait of King Minos spawns four Filth and a single Soldier. The book's contents are as seen below.
Legible Script[]
TEXT SCANNED - LEGIBLE SCRIPT:
"...Gabriel struck down Minos, his flesh torn asunder with torrents of crimson pooling at his feet as we all cried out for clarity. 'Justice,' Gabriel decreed to all, with our just ruler writhing in wailing agony, 'The Lord's Will be done.' We watched on in horror as Minos lay broken, now waning, screaming in defiance of God's Will, Gabriel."
REMAINING TEXT: IRRELEVANT.

Secrets[]
Orbs
Secrets | ||
---|---|---|
#1 | (Soul Orb) - In the first block, the first Soul Orb peeks out of a weak window above the Cerberus. It leads to a room with a praying skeleton. | |
#2 | (Soul Orb) - In the Electric Hallway, jump over to the platform where the three Soldiers spawn; going to the left a Soul Orb can be found at the bottom of a short drop. | |
#3 | (Blood Orb) - A Blood Orb can be found in the same section by jumping on top of the hallway right before the entrance of the Railcannon room. | |
#4 | (Blood Orb) - In the pool of water behind the row of Husks in the second plaza, V1 can slide into a small crack to enter a small secret waterway, where a second Blood Orb can be found. | |
#5 | (Soul Orb) - In the building that contains the book, a hole is blasted in the wall on the second floor. The cracked wall is visible through this hole, and can be broken to reveal a creepy altar as well as the Soul Orb. |
Challenge Advice
None really, just learn the Movement Guide and memorize the electrical box locations. The shotgun can be used for boxes at medium range because one of the pellets is bound to hit.
The box inside the house in the First Block can be destroyed by shooting the house from outside with the Malicious Railcannon (or any explosion, really). It's most consistent to target the wall of the house next to the Cerberus, though it may be faster to fire an explosion at the window instead.
Beating the level in under 60 seconds may be hard starting out, but if you just keep replaying the level and memorizing everything you're good to go. If you're not a fan of memorizing, then just try to beat it as fast as possible. You can also skip some enemy areas such as the Generator Staircase so that you can go through the level faster.
Try to remember the location of all the electrical boxes. When you have figured that out, rush the level, ignoring all enemies (except for an occasional refuel, if needed). Using the overload blast of the Pump Charge Shotgun or Rocket Riding can be especially useful in the Generator Staircase, but keep in mind that the shotgun's blast does 50 damage to you.
Trivia[]
- The mission's name is a reference to the 1997 bootleg album Live at 20,000 Volts, a collaboration between the band Boris and Keiji Haino recorded at the Tokyo noise club 20,000 Volts.
- The mission is difficult to beat without any enemy deaths since many either die to crossfire or by bouncing on jump pads.
- The mission’s soundtrack is named “Requiem”, a word that is used to describe a church mass for the repose of dead souls. An example of such is the citizens of the city of Lust, whose headless corpses litter the level, and their former king, still watching over to punish sinners.
- This level is supposed to be a generator for the Lust layer, used to power the cities.[1]
- 20,000 volts is less than half of the voltage that a typical taser utilizes. For the Railcannon to be as deadly as it is, it would likely need to operate with a much higher voltage.
- The Railcannon can be skipped by going past the entire building it resides in and triggering the Second Block to load by opening the door on the other side. This was kept for weaponless runs.
- This also triggers the gate to open, spawns the 5 Strays, and triggers the tooltip that the Railcannon recharges while not in use. The tooltip will not disappear until properly untriggered or exiting the level.
- One can load the Second Block, restart to the Generator Staircase, and slam storage jump from the Electric Hallway into a low-poly version of the First Block without furniture and fuse boxes. The (further) bitcrushed bounce pads work the same as their less low-quality versions; the only change is having much less particles and simpler colors.
- This is currently the only level to feature a toilet, which clearly makes it the level in ULTRAKILL.
