 Player Development Program

The Utah Storm Soccer Club is a player development organization. Key to our plans is the development of Youth Soccer Players to support our local High School teams and to give those interested a chance to compete for ODP and College soccer opportunities. To meet this objective, the Utah Storm offers a variety of player development resources.

Team Training During the Spring and Fall Soccer Seasons, all of our teams train together every week. Depending on the age and level of the team, training sessions may be once a week, twice a week or more.

Summer Camps As part of your membership in the Utah Storm Soccer club each team is given a one-week summer camp. These camps are generally 5 days long and run for 2 hours per day. During the camp players work as a team on to develop skills and conditioning. The real benefit of these camps is that the players are working together with their teammates who will be playing with them during the competition seasons.

Club Academy The Utah Storm Academy programs offer kids a challenging and exciting environment to learn and grow in the sport of Soccer. For players age pre-K through High School our programs helps develop skills, confidence and fitness to fulfill their soccer dreams. Our Grass Roots, Development and Premier Academies are designed to give players additional training and development opportunities. Sample Training Camp Agenda:

1. Ball Mastery:

Emphasis on each player working independently with the ball using both feet. Repetition is the key.


2. Receiving and Passing:

This will involve exercises to improve a player’s touch and increase accuracy as well as creativity in passing.

 

3. Moves (1vs.1):

Exercises which teach the moves that can create space against any defense.

 

4. Speed, Agility and Quickness (SAQ):

Focus will be on acceleration, running with and without the ball as well as change of pace.

 

5. Finishing:

Game play and exercises that teach techniques for finishing as well as nurturing instinctive play.

 

6. Group Play:

Games and exercises that improve small-group combination play.
